011. Summer Programme 2016, NIT Surathkal
Application Deadline: May 4, 2016
Duration: Students selected for NITK-SIP are required to be present in the campus and carry out the allotted project work over a contact period of minimum 30 days and a maximum of 45 days between 25 th May, 2016 to 8th July 2016.
Financials: A stipend of Rs. 100/- per day will be paid to each student during the contact period mentioned above. Allowance for food, at a rate Rs.100/- per day, will be paid separately. The Interns will be provided access to the Central Library and the Central Computer Center, at NITK. Accommodation will we provided to the students in NITK Hostels.

The NITK – Summer Internship Programme (NITK-SIP) aims to promote awareness and interest in good quality academic research among young students of Engineering, Basic Sciences, Management and Humanities through an Internship during summer vacation. The Internships will be financially supported by the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. Totally 50 Internships will be provided. Students selected from eligible applicants, will get the opportunity to work on research mini-projects under the mentorship of NITK faculty during the coming summer vacation

Eligibility: Students who are presently completing the third year (or sixth semester) B.Tech/ BE, and students completing the first year (or second semester) of M.Tech/ ME/ M.Sc./ MBA are eligible to apply for NITK-SIP. Selection of interns will be made by respective departments based on academic performance in university examinations, paper presentations at conferences/workshops, projects executed, Design contests participated, and other awards/ distinctions obtained. Preference will be given to students from Institutions with which NITK has an MoU for academic and research cooperation.

2. Summer Research Programme 2016, Tata Institure of Fundamental Research: International Centre For Theoretical Sciences (ICTS – TIFR)
Location: Bangalore

This program is first-of-its-kind in India with a specific focus to provide research experience and training to highly motivated students and young researchers in the interdisciplinary field of complex dynamical systems theory that has applications in diverse fields in science and Engineering, such as the study of biological systems, atmosphere and oceans, materials and structures, economics and social systems, archaeology and anthropology, languages, and many others.

Eligibility:
Early graduate students, postdocs, and early faculty are encouraged to apply for participation. Applications from exceptional advanced undergraduate students may also be considered, depending on their level of preparation.

3. Summer Internship in Cryptology, Indian Statistical Institute(ISI), Kolkata

Every summer, Indian Statistical Institute offers a dedicated research Internship program in Cryptology and Security to senior undergraduate and fresh post-graduate students from premier institutions of the country. Applications for the Internship program are sought from eligible students of Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Mathematics and Statistics background.

Eligibility: To apply for the Internship, one MUST be either of the following, as on 15 March 2016-

  • 3rd year student of a 4-year Under-Graduate program
  • 2nd year student of a 3-year Under-Graduate program
  • 1st year student of a 2-year Post-Graduate program
  • 4th year student of a 5-year Integrated/Dual-Degree program

Eligible fields of study : Computer Science (CS/CSE etc.), Electronics (ECE/EE/ETCE/EIE etc.), Information Technology (IT), Mathematics (Math) and Statistics (Stat).

In addition, we MAY consider a small number of outstanding First Year students of Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Mathematics and Statistics. Feel free to apply.

4. Summer Research Programme 2016, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL)
Location: Ahmedabad, Mount Abu, Udaipur
Duration: 8 weeks
Application deadline: Online registration closes on March 15, 2016. Written Applications should be submitted before March 23, 2016.

Eligibility:

  • Pre-final year M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Integrated) / M.Sc. (Tech.) students of Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical / Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics, Ocean Sciences and Climate Sciences.
  • The candidate must have taken Physics and Mathematics at the Under Graduate level.
  • A minimum of 60% marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level are required for all candidates.

Please note that Engineering students are NOT eligible to apply.

5. Dissertation and Summer Training, Wadia Institute Of Himalayan Geology
Location: Dehradun
Duration: Summer training will be carried out during May – July. The duration of Dissertation work shall range from two to three months.

Other information:
– Summer Training will be provided to post graduate students of geology/geophysics/earth system sciences and other allied fields, and fourth and fifth year students of the integrated Bachelor and Master degree course of these subjects. The summer training is also open to undergraduate students of Engineering disciplines.
–  The application MUST be forwarded through the Head of the Department.
– Self-attested certificates/mark sheets in support of the educational qualifications must be attached with the application form. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
– A brief write-up of research interest with proposed research problem (in about 100 words) should be attached with the application form in case of students applying for Dissertation.
– In case a student wants to be considered for both the institute as well as self-sponsored summer training, he/she will be required to fill two separate forms for the same.
– Selection will be based on Merit.
